Highlights from Key's Southeast and Rhode Island Regions
For over twenty-five years, the Rhode Island region has hosted an annual Thanksgiving Dinner for our youth and their families. This day truly became an RI tradition, where staff were able to sit down and enjoy a meal with our families. Unfortunately, COVID placed a temporary pause on this event. On November 13th, with much excitement, we were able to resume our annual Thanksgiving Dinner at the Federal Hill House. A big “thank you” to Alyssa Lopes, Senior Program Supervisor, who partnered with a local high school culinary program to prepare a full Thanksgiving dinner. The food was absolutely delicious and there were plenty of leftovers for our families to take home. This night also included an area for family portraits, an arts and crafts table, as well as endless games and dancing. To all our staff who were involved in the planning, decorating, serving, and entertaining…..thank you! Our families truly looked like they had a great night out.
We had our annual Thanksgiving basket donation on November 25th. Key’s Rhode Island & Southeast regions gave out Thanksgiving dinner items to 20 youth and their families. Thanks to the generous donation from the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick in New Bedford and the coordination from Jay Kirby, Senior Program Supervisor, Southeast Region, we were able to support many families that were in need. Staff enjoyed dropping off the fully stocked baskets and seeing the appreciation and joy in people's faces.
